Load type > Mean drag for longitudinal wind component

Definition of a wind loading along the element axis. (Drag force q = cd * Rho * v^2 / 2)

SettingDescription
From, To, Step Element series to be loaded
Assembly Alternative to load assignment via element series: Name of the assembly to be loaded. The specified load is applied to every element of the specified assembly.
Rho Air density (tons per volume unit)
Note: No default value. The density must be explicitly specified. (Value appr. 0.00125 t/m^3; mass unit always tons t, cannot be changed)
v-beg Wind velocity at element begin
v-end Wind velocity at element end
Note: The load intensity  q = cd * Rho * v^2 / 2 is calculated for the  element begin and element end, and then applied as trapezoidal load
cd Drag coefficient
Options: None, Mult. by CS width, Mult. by CS depth
  • None: Area included in the drag coefficient (q = cd * Rho * v^2 / 2)
  • Mult. By CS width: Drag coefficient related to the cross-section width b (q = cd * b * Rho * v^2 / 2)
  • Mult. By CS depth: Drag coefficient related to the cross-section depth h (q = cd * h * Rho * v^2 / 2)
